Araucania Aysen Hand Dyed 70% Merino, 20% Alpaca, 10% Silk Yarn - Violet Storm #822. Araucania Yarns is inpired by ancient Chilean crafts made from hand painted natural yarns. Currently the Aysen Region of Chile is one of the most minimally disturbed watersheds, air sheds, and ecosystems in the world. Despite being Chile's second largest region, Aysen has the sparsest population. It was not settled until the early 20th century, when animal ranching concessions were granted. This late settlement was a result of the region's complex topography. Aquaculture is an important activity and the region contributes 80% of Chile's salmon output. Animal ranching focuses on beef cattle, sheep, and sheep's wool, part of which is also exported. 70% Merino, 20% Alpaca, 10% Silk Blend Weight: 100 grams. Gauge: 16 stitches per inch, 10cm., 4".
