Knitting a Better Glove

Fri, Apr 03, 20

Handknit gloves are so special, and Kelley has whipped up a great free pattern for an easy pair, Bravo Alpaca Gloves, knit from our exclusive Bravo yarn.

Introduced in a recent Technique Tuesday episode on Facebook Live, these gloves are soft and luxurious but also very practical. Alpaca is warm and light, so these gloves will be light as air. They're also unisex, so knit them up for gifts for your family!

One of the challenges of knitting gloves is avoiding the holes that inevitably appear between the fingers, usually because enough stitches weren't picked up or they were picked up too loosely. Kelley has solved that problem! Here she is to show you exactly how where she picks up her stitches for the Bravo Alpaca Gloves.

I love how she picks up her stitches in a way that leaves less bulk. This is important in knitted gloves to avoid bulk.

The other key to making gloves fit great is Kelley's trick for knitting glove fingers. She knits

Knitting Gloves for Others

Kelley shared a wonderful tip for knitting for loved ones who don't live near you. Have them trace their hand on a piece of cardboard and send it to you! You can cut it out and use it as a template for sizing their gloves.

This works for socks, too. I would recommend having both a hand an foot template for anyone you regularly knit gloves, mittens, or socks for! Great fit, every time.

Join us each Tuesday on our Facebook page at 9:30 am Pacific for Technique Tuesday. Not only will you learn great tips and tricks from Kelley, we always have a giveaway!

See you there.

Cheers,
