Welted Fingerless Gloves by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas

  |
Size Guide

This one-skein pattern, designed for our 2008 LYS Tour, became a fast favorite. Wear them when knitting outdoors on a chilly day. Or layer them over your fine leather gloves when the temperature drops. Live in a temperate zone? Choose a cooler yarn and they’re all about style.

These gloves are lovely in virtually any dk-weight yarn. The Rowan Baby Alpaca has a slightly tailored, dressier look. If you use Manos Silk Blend, you can get three gloves from one skein so two skeins make three pairs—one for you and two for gifts!

Once you’ve knitted a pair, you’ll see how easy it is to tweak
the size. Just keep the thumb gusset numbers intact and add or subtract stitches at the side.

Now get creative: Work the cuffs in another color or a different yarn (great for using up leftovers). Add stitch details or embroidery to the back of the hand. Add buttons—one per welt, one every other welt, or just one great button on each cuff. How about little pom-poms? Or ribbons? Have some fun!
