McKenna Cabled Mitts Project + Knitting Cables Without a Cable Needle
I loved this design from Berroco and also wanted to try it with a new 100% Baby Alpaca yarn we're carrying called Amano Eco Puna. Here's some tips on how I modified the pattern to match this yarn since it was a little lighter weight than the recommended Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky (Also a great yarn). I the video below I shared some tips on how to add the cables without a cable needle.

To Work With Amano Eco Puna Yarn
- I used 2 strands of Eco Puna to get the same thickness as the recommended Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky.
- I added 4 stitches to pattern. Instead of casting on 32 stitches, I cast on 36 stitches.
- I used a US #7 needle for a small size mitt. I'd recommend US #8 needle for a medium sized mitt.
- I knit 2 rounds in pattern between each increase round to give more length to my thumb gusset.
- I closed up the thumb gusset using my no-hole technique.
- I used Jeny's surprisingly stretchy bind-off at the top of the cuff
