As much as we'd like to knit an intricate shawl or sweater for the loved ones in our lives, time is a big factor. One very popular knitted gift is the Grandma's Slippers pattern, and Kelley found ways to improve upon it! Mrs. Hupps' Slippers is a free pattern by Kelley that uses Judy's Magic Cast-On to make her variation a breeze to knit in one piece.

In the video below, see how Kelley executes this unique construction so you can get your own pair done in no-time at all! Plus, the pattern uses chunky yarn – so you can quickly make pair after pair for gifts!

Benefits of Knitting Mrs. Hupps' Slippers

  • Easy to knit in one piece
  • Uses a chunky yarn for fast knitting
  • Makes a great gift for everyone
  • It has a soft and cushy foot bed - double knit sole without double knitting!

How to Knit the Sole of Mrs. Hupps' Slippers

Kelley's Mrs. Hupps' Slippers pattern uses a unique sole that is like double knitting, but without double knitting! Here's how to execute it, either when knitting the slippers in the round or flat.

  • Flat Pattern; Row 1- K1 (P1, K1) to end of row. Row 2- K1 (SL1WYIB, K1) to end of row.
  • In the Round; Row 1- P1 (SL1WYIF, P1) to end of row. Row 2- K1 (P1, K1) to end of row.
