Knitting for Men: 5 Perfect Patterns for Guys

Wed, Jun 21, 17

We love our dads, husbands, brothers, nephews, grandfathers, and the other men in our lives! In honor of those loved ones, I choose five patterns that I think guys will like, and maybe actually wear.

Churchmouse Boyfriend Watch Cap

Every Christmas, I knit a hat for my dad, which he looks forward to wearing and I look forward to knitting. I also knit hats for my brother, and he loves them. The favorite is the Watch Cap.

Knit this in Amano Warmi in Toasted Coffee, Malabrigo Rios in Cirrus Gray, Cascade Eco Duo in Chinchilla, or Cascade 220 Heathers in Midnight Heather (deep navy).

Broken Rib Cardigan

A sweater can be a risky business, because you want your guy to wear it, and men are notoriously picky about handknit sweaters. Letting them choose the color is key; you might think he looks great in red, but does he agree? And choose a stitch pattern that he approves of. I love broken rib, which looks so great in the Broken Rib Cardigan. (I’ve got a Broken Rib tutorial for you on the blog, too!)

Knit this in Encore Mega in Teal

Stadium Scarf—A Free Pattern

A sports-themed project is perfect for the fan in your household. This FREE scarf pattern covers all the bases; choose a favorite team’s colors and cast on!

Knit this project in Universal Yarn Uptown Spirit Stripes in your team's colors!

Making Tracks: A FREE Pattern!

Self-striping yarn mixed with a pop of cream to really make this hat stand out from the crowd.

Knit this project in Universal Yarn Uptown Spirit Stripes in Personal Foul and Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted in Cream.

Cabled Slipover

Finally, I couldn’t resist including a baby pattern. Your little guy will look so dapper in his Cabled Slipover Vest. Just darling!

Knit this project in Baby Cashmerino in Ecru for the body and Baby Cashmerino in Lake for the trim.

Cheers,
